Abstract:

AIM:
The aim for the presentation is to demonstrate how our Health Centre Manager and Nurse, work in partnership with the Care Team to forge community connections via the Care program.
METHOD:
We would like to display the program that we have been working on and demonstrate how Rockhampton Girls Grammar School has become one of the more community spirited schools in Central Queensland. We will show how the Care program has developed the students’ personal skills, how our students have strengthened community action and how we are creating supportive environments not just for our School but in the wider community.
RESULTS:
What we have seen in our Care program is the students becoming active in joining in community events. The community events organisers are asking more and more of girls to be participating in their event. The students feeling apart of a family community at School. A wonderful Big Sister program in School to support all students.
CONCLUSION:
The Care program will continue to develop and grow as the community grows. We are planning on extending our local community to supporting the students’ communities (Boarding students). On completion of School, students are choosing to do more voluntary based work in their community, whether at university or completing a GAP year.
