For the Wurundjeri community the natural world is also a cultural world; therefore the Wurundjeri people have a special interest in preserving not just their cultural objects, but the natural landscapes of cultural importance. The acknowledgement of broader attributes of the landscape as cultural values that require protection (encompassing, among other things, a variety of landforms, ecological niches and habitats as well as continuing cultural practices and archaeological material) is essential to the identity and wellbeing of the Wurundjeri people.

Kate Ellis, CEO of Raising Literacy Australia
Kate is the CEO of Raising Literacy Australia, the lead agency behind the Words Grow Minds campaign. During her 15 years in the Federal Parliament as the Member for Adelaide, Kate was the Minister for Early Childhood and Childcare, Youth and Sport. Kate worked on the launch of the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), the introduction of the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Framework and Universal Access to 15 hours preschool. Since that time, she has written a book on the experiences of women in parliament, serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of DrinkWise Australia and the Rarefind Foundation, and is Chair of South Australia’s Early Years Taskforce

Adjunct Professor Kath Riddell, is the Executive Director Nursing Services and Chief Nursing Officer at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Kath is a highly regarded executive nursing leader who is passionate about improving patient outcomes and experiences of care, supporting transformational change, and advocating for the importance and value of the nursing profession.
At RCH, Kath is the professional lead for all our nurses, including nursing education, research, and workforce. She also holds accountability for Clinical Governance, including the RCH Quality team and systems, and the Infection Prevention and Control service.

Tracy Beaton, Principal Commissioner for Children and Young People, Victoria
Tracy commenced her nursing career in New Zealand initially as an enrolled nurse. She completed her psychiatric nurse training at Cherry Farm Hospital and then went on to train as a general and obstetric nurse. Tracy career has spanned clinical practice over 35 years and is now working as the Commissioner for Children and Young People in Victoria. Tracy is a values-driven registered nurse with extensive experience in leading transformative initiatives to enhance mental health nursing practice, child protection systems and improve outcomes for children, young people, and communities. Tracy has delivered complex, system-wide reforms across Government and Community sectors in mental health, nursing and working with vulnerable populations.
