Abstract

Contemporary parent help seeking and opportunities to influence service engagement
To understand contemporary parent help-seeking behaviours and create evidence-based support services for parents of young children, a mixed-methods phased research approach was used to ensure the voices of parents from disadvantaged communities were captured. Initially, semi-structured interviews were conducted with parents and service providers in Elizabeth (South Australia) and Deception Bay (Queensland), followed by a broader national survey of Australian parents. Co-design workshops were also used to validate findings. This presentation will cover the findings of this research that may assist practitioners to further understand parent support needs to enhance service engagement.
