CHAIRPERSON’S LETTER

Dear ACCYPN Members

Welcome to the September 2022 issue of the College Communique. I know it has been a busy time for most of you, so I hope you enjoy your newsletter with a well-earned break. The continuing impact of COVID-19 and its accompanying pressures on health care systems here and globally increases the work of nurses across all employment sectors. Nurses working in the frontline, management, education and research form the backbone of every health system. Supporting each other now more than ever is important, as we care for the children, young people and families who rely on us to advocate on their behalf.

ACCYPN provides a valuable opportunity for you to connect with colleagues and peers through social media – join us on Facebook and Instagram – to share content, informative links and have ‘conversations’ about things that matter to you. Share with us your successes and the things that help you in your role and the care you provide.
The team at ACCYPN and I look forward to hearing from you.
Warm regards

Yvonne Parry – ACCYPN Chairperson

USING THE BRAIN STORY FOR
BETTER CHILDHOOD OUTCOMES

Imagine a world where we trained and looked after the health of our brains, in the same way we do our bodies. A world where we understood the brain in the same way we understood our cardiovascular system. ARACY, Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership and the Minderoo Foundation have been joining in discussions with Nancy Mannix of the Palix Foundation and the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative about how to create alignments between science, policy and practice in the areas of brain development and its implications for child development, mental health and addiction. Find out more here.
