Standards of Practice for Children and Young People’s Nurses

The Standards describe the competent level of child and young person’s nursing care and the desired level of performance against which actual clinical performance can be measured. The Standards can be used by individuals to evaluate their own practice, and used by employers as a framework for developing clinical performance assessment tools. The Standards hold us accountable for our clinical practice, and for our continued competence, which is essential to maintaining the trust and respect of those for whom we care and the wider community.

2025-6 Review of the Standards of Practice for Children and Young People’s Nurses

We are pleased to announce that the ACCYPN has been awarded a grant for the Western Australian Nurses Memorial Charitable Trust to undergo a comprehensive review of the Standards of Practice for Children and Young People’s Nurses. Updating the ACCYPN Standards of Practice for Children and Young People’s Nurses will ensure that they remain a robust resource for nurses, supporting high-quality care for children and young people. The revised the ACCYPN Standards of Practice for Children and Young People’s Nurses serve as a foundation for individual practice, curriculum development, and credentialing processes.

The review will utilise a modified Delphi technique to consult with specialist paediatric and child health nurses and industry leaders through multiple rounds of questionnaires and feedback. We look forward to your participation. For more information contact secretary@accypn.org.au
