Lyn was a Queensland Nurse who commenced nursing in 1947. Lyn commenced working in paediatrics in 1955 and was Director of Nursing at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane from 1971 to 1996. During this time she modelled a strong commitment to nursing education and continual learning.

Under her leadership the Post Basic Paediatric Course was developed and commenced in 1974 and joined the Child Health Course in 1993. The combined program was moved to the university sector in 1995. Paediatric and Child health nurses in Queensland acknowledge Lyn’s contribution in supporting paediatric and child health nursing through post-registration specialist education.

This award is given annually to a post graduate student in Children and Young People’s Nursing at Queensland University of Technology and also Australian Catholic University – McCauley Campus. The value of the award is $250-00.
