Title: National Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, Connect and Care – ForWhen Helpline

Presenter BIO
Sharon Jillett
RN and Queensland Navigator for the National Perinatal and Infant Mental Health – ForWhen Helpline

Sharon is a Registered Nurse who is passionate about the mental health of women and making a difference to families. Originally from Tasmania, Sharon’s nursing career began at the Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane and she has been nursing in the paediatric and neonatal space for over 28 years in the NT, NSW, Victoria, ACT, Tasmania and Queensland. During her career Sharon has witnessed the affect perinatal mental health has on families, in particular perinatal psychosis and the struggle to refer women through to appropriate services due to a lack of resources. While working as NUM of Paediatrics and Maternity at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Toowoomba Sharon also maintained the portfolio for the Gidget Foundation providing face to face perinatal psychology consultations for families living in the region and telehealth sessions for families living in remote locations. Having now relocated to Brisbane, Sharon has commenced work as the Queensland Navigator for the National Perinatal and Infant Mental Health – ForWhen Helpline and looks forward to continuing to work in this space.
